This week seems to be variety at cinemas, along with various other movies a small love story also released from the people who specialize in this genre, Rajshri Production’s Love You Mr. Kalakaar stars Tusshar Kapoor and Amrita Rao.
Love U Mr. Kalakaar is the story of two people who comes from absolutely two different worlds, Sahil (Tusshar Kapoor) is an artist, and Ritu (Amrita Rao) is a management trainee, they fall in love and want to get married. But Ritu’s dad doesn’t agree with this relation, he is a very successful businessman who wants Ritu also to marry a successful and rich guy. However he gives Sahil a chance by making him the managing director of his company for three months. The condition being, that if he generates profit from the company in three months, he gets the girl, otherwise he has to forget about marrying Ritu. Will Sahil make profit and marry Ritu? To know, watch the film.
Tusshar tries hard but he comes out absolutely unconvincing as the sincere, virtuous and self-righteous Prem kind of hero that Rajshri films are famous for. After Tusshar’s great performance in “Shor In The City” we were expecting something more from him but he fails to deliver. His chemistry with Amrita is just ok, besides it’s obvious on screen that he is trying too hard to look sincere but it didn’t work this time. Amrita Rao looks every bit the sweet innocent yet confident young girl that she plays in this movie, she has done a good job and a quintessential Rajshri heroine. She is consistent throughout the movie and quite endearing at times, Amrita has found niche for herself as sweet Rajshri heroine and her sweet pretty face is a big asset.
Love You Mr Kalakaar is directed by S. Manasvi which is her debut film, the movie has very old world feel to it with slow pace and long scenes. S. Manasvi has also written the dialogues of the film some of which are very sensitive and very well written. The story is week at the beginning but picks up pace in the second half, overall it’s a decent first attempt by the director.
The verdict: While the film has characters and story of a typical Rajshri film it doesn’t have the look of one with no elaborate songs and marriage sequences, movie doesn’t have a pet animal or a fat Indian joint family still like any other movie by this production house Love U... has middle class values and unconditional love, the film is a good family watch, we at FilmiTadka give it 3 out of five stars.
