A mix of the adage ‘men will be men’ and youth fever gave us ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ last year which surprisingly did pretty well at the ticket windows. I guess the success of that moderately budgeted movie fuelled many upcoming directors to come out with their versions of the youth tale, resultant? Film like Sadda Adda is born. So, let’s find out if this movie has the sparks and flair to become 2012’s Pyar Ka Punchama.

Sadda Adda is a tale of six boys namely Sameer (Karanvir Sharma), Kabeer (Kunal Pant), Safal (Parimal Aloke), Irfan (Bhaumik Sampat), Rajat (Rohin Robert) and Jogi (Rohitt Arora) who share a 2BHK apartment in Delhi which they lovingly refer to as Sadda Adda. All six have one thing in common; they hail from small towns in India and all have ambitious dreams in a very clichéd way. While they struggle to live their respective dreams, they never fail to enjoy life in their abode which resembles a dump yard. Whether or not, they succeed in achieving their goals forms the rest of the story.
Beginning a film with a line across the screen that screams ‘The only thing that will stop you from fulfilling your dreams is YOU’, more or less prepares you what to expect next and as expected, you see six boys making merry very loudly in the first half and fighting their lives’ struggles in the second. The mix could have been inspiring but debutant director Muazzam Beg loses grip pretty early on giving a half-baked plot. The story needed more meat which the director surely failed to spot. Camera work and editing are unworthy topics to mention here. But giving credit where it is due, the director did stir up hilarious sequences at regular intervals to bring you back to the film in case you slipped into a slumber.
If we talk about the cast, fresh faces do add freshness to the film and it ends there. Karan Sharma stands out from the crowd with his bearable performance while the rest need acting classes pronto! Shaurya Chauhan and Kahkkashan Aryan need to work on their glam quotient which is listless.
All in all, Sadda Adda fails to be anything like Pyaar Ka Punchnama. So instead of wasting your money on this, take a trip to some theme park. You will have more fun there! We at FilmiTadka give it 1 out of 5 stars.
