A lot was riding on Agent Vinod and Saif Ali Khan last Friday i.e. March 23. Critics came out with not-so-glowing reviews about the movie which seemed to have affected the movie's weekend collections. But thanks to the hype and promotions, it could manage a decent opening to say the least.
Agent Vinod opened with 40-50% collections on Friday. In many centres, a drop was immediately noticed from Saturday onwards and Sunday registered an equally low collections. In Maharashtra the film did good business on Friday, as it was a holiday. But a drop was noticed here too on Saturday and Sunday. All in all, the movie collected nearly Rs. 27.5 Crores in three days.
Though the makers, Dinesh Vijan and Saif Ali khan, might not be feeling the pinch here since they were looking for an achievable Rs. 30 Crores to break even. Still its not so decent show at the Box Office will surely dampen the spirits of the industry to come up with spy thriller again. Trade experts don't think the movie can show any profit in times to come. It seems things are pretty bleak for this spy called Agent Vinod. We wonder if Saif will still go ahead with franchise. May be there will be more in the next film than just a mujra and copied songs. Amen!
