Sujoy Ghosh gave up a fairly lucrative job with the Reuters to make movies because of Amitabh Bachchan. Don’t get any wrong ideas. The dream of working with Big B brought him to the industry and he was fortunate to realize his dream with Aladin. But the film couldn’t appease the public and went down without a whimper. Yet the director didn’t give up his hopes of getting big with Big B and has cast the latter with his blockbuster Kahaani’s actress Vidya Balan.

Apart from having such an impressive cast, Ghosh will also dare to remake a Satyajit Ray classic as his next. Aranyer Din Ratri (Days and Nights in the Forest) is a Bengali novel which was adapted on screen by Ray many years back, and now Ghosh will translate it onto the silver screen in Hindi. Sujoy said that he will have to breathe the story for the next six months. He has to figure out where to take the story. Ray had done it before and Bengali filmmaker Gautam Ghosh has even made a sequel to it. So, he has a lot of work cut out for him.
Ray’s film talked about four friends who are different from each other but come close when they go on an excursion into the wild. They however had one thing in common. They wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of life for some tranquil times. Now, if you have already guessed, the film will require a few more actors other than Vidya and Bachchan. Guess we can expect a cast of good actors in Sujoy Ghosh’s next presentation. The wait begins!
