Rajesh Khanna might have left us bereaved but he will be remembered through his films, songs and his chemistry with his co-stars. Mumtaz, who has the maximum number of hits with Khanna, said that the actor was close to her despite being an aloof kind of a person. She cried the whole morning when she learnt about his demise. But she was also tad happy as she got the chance to meet him last month. They had discussed a battle they both fought, that is with Cancer. But while Mumtaz defeated it, Khanna succumbed to it. Mumtaz recollected about the meeting that he had told her she was a strong person. He knew what she has endured in all those chemotherapy sessions. He told her that he has lost hunger for food. They even joked how all the food brought for him eventually got devoured by everyone else except him. Talking about her chemistry with Khanna, Mumtaz said they delivered many hits like Aapki Kasam, Sachcha Jhootha, Apna Desh, Roti and many more. She has many memories associated with him. She recalled that once he had to run on snow carrying her on his shoulder. It was obviously very tiring for him but whenever she joked that now he will have to carry 100 Kgs over his shoulder, he would say she was very light. But she knew she wasn’t.
Another of his famous co-star Sharmila Tagore shared how his superstardom was to be seen to be believed. She claimed that no one has seen success the way Rajesh Khanna did. He is no doubt the first superstar of the industry whose euphoria is yet to be matched by anyone even today. She said that wherever she went with him, there will be queues of people waiting to catch a glimpse of this phenomenon called Rajesh Khanna.
