Today’s generation might not be aware of the forever affable and ever smiling meek father of many heroes in many films A K Hangal. Today the man is lying in Asha Parekh Hospital in critical condition after he had a fall and fractured his hipbone.
Hangal was admitted on August 16 following the fall and was put on oxygen support. The mishap occurred on August 14 but the veteran was kept in his house and was on medicines. Later he was admitted to the ICU on August 16 after his condition worsened. According to orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Vinod Khanna, they were checking Hangal’s vitals when they discovered that his chest has severe complications and immediately shifted to the ICU. His condition is very serious right now and he is under observation.
Hangal has often visited the hospital in last few months due to various ailments ranging from Pulmonary Tuberculosis to hypertension. After he had a fall, he was supposed to get a surgery done but his condition made doctors abandon the procedure. He isn’t fit to go through the operation. In fact, they had taken him off the ventilator support as it wasn’t helping the actor.
When asked if the hospital bills are getting difficult to be paid, Vijay denied it saying that the fund his father received from the industry is helping him foot the bills of the hospital. Talking about his father’s health, Vijay said that although he is a fighter at heart, it is doubtful that he will recover. He was on life support initially but that too was removed as nothing was working on him.
