Vedita Pratap Singh or shall we say Shabana of Bhindi Bazaar Inc is the latest to join the big bad world of Bollywood. Vedita, who is a well known face in advertising fraternity and was also the winner of Channel [V] India’s hottest 2009, is a beautiful girl, but how does she stand apart? Let us find out through this candid interview.

You chose a negative character in Ankush Bhatt’s Bhindi Bazaar Inc. to debut, why such start?
Vedita: The role was performance oriented and you can’t say I am playing a negative role because if you will see the film you will find every character has a grey shade and mine’s just a bit more on negative side.
Tell us something about yourself? How you like to spend your time when you are not acting?
Vedita: Usually I sit at home and enjoy reading book and listening music. I like to read thriller and murder stories. I am more like a home bird you can say. I just like to be at home more than outside.
Through some sources we understand you were quite good in sports, when did modeling and acting happen?
Vedita: I did my graduation from St. Xavier’s College Mumbai, came across opportunity to model, from where modeling started, post that I did a theatre and got my big acting break with Kadar Khan’s stage play, ‘Taash ki Patti.’ It was then that the acting bug bit me.
How Bhindi Bazar Inc. happened?
Vedita: There was nothing special. My friend was working with the production house, he told me about the ongoing auditions for a very strong lead role, I gave the audition and finally director liked my work and I got selected for the role.
What is your character “Shabana” like?
Vedita: Shabana is very ambitious girl who is ready to do everything to fulfill her dreams. She is very hard working and very confident about her body and looks.
What are the similarities between Shabana and Vedita?
Vedita: Nothing!! There is no similarity between Vedita and Shabana. I am not at all like her. Vedita will never cross her limits to achieve her role and this is what differs me from Shabana. Also Shabana is manipulative which I am not.
How was your experience of working with ace actors like Kay Kay Menon and Deepti Naval?
Vedita: Brilliant experience! First I was scared in working with legendry actors but I feel lucky to get this chance. In film I have so many performance oriented scenes with Deepti Ji; First I was scared, whether I will be able to do it or not but she was a great support.
Tell us something about your bold love making scenes with your co-stars; Was your family okay with you doing such things?
Vedita: My family had mixed reactions towards my bold scenes. You see actually I belong to a royal family of Uttar Pradesh and my mother is from Agartala, which makes them a little conservative. However my mother always supported me and she knew how much passionate I am towards acting. She just told me to go for it but don’t forget your limits ever.
Vedita you are a new comer, so is there truly something like casting couch? Did you face anything like this?
Vedita: Yes, it happens. I faced it, but I just said no and moved on. Actually it totally depends on the girl, if she chooses to be a victim or stands against it. But yes casting couch does exist in Bollywood.
You are a pretty girl, what’s up on the boyfriend front?
Vedita: Actually I was seeing someone but we broke-up. So now I am single (..listening boys??)
What kind of partner you want (I asked this for the sake of our readers)?
Vedita: I want someone honest, who will support me. But right now I want to focus on my acting career.
Ok last question before we start rapid fire (hell yeah I am Karan Johar wannabe), tell us something about your future projects?
Vedita: I have signed a film but right now I can’t talk about that,
