Three out of five films I have done were hits and I am in no rush, says Kamna Jethmalani in a chat with FilmiTadka.
She may not be hitting the movie screens with back-to-back releases, but Kamna Jethmalani, whose last release Bendu Apparao was a hit, says she content. Coming from a family of Entrepreneurs and law graduates, she says she didn’t expect to get even this far. “I was just a simple, studious girl with oiled hair. In fact until 12th grade, I did not even shape my eyebrows or wax my arms”.
Pushed to participate in a modelling contest just because she was tall and thin enough, she went on to win the Miss Mumbai in 2004. Then she did her first music album Chod do Aanchal and there was no looking back. But in this competitive world isn’t she worried about the ‘out of sight, out of mind’ phenomena? “I don’t want to make money and just rush off. I want to do movies which I am satisfied with. I cannot count on my fingers how many movies I have turned down so far. I believe what is meant for me will always come to me. You just have to wait for the right time”, she smiles.
Currently apart from learning Kathak, she is using her time to teach children at an NGO. “I have had my own share of insecurities, but today I am more balanced and calm”, she ends with.
